Why Police Killed Sokoto Shi’a Scholar in Abuja

The followers of the detained leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky have conducted a peaceful rally demanding the immediate and unconditional release of their leader who has being under illegal detention by Department of State Services for over 2 years.

The rally started around 01:48 pm after the concluded of the Juma’at prayer led by Sheikh AdamuTsoho Jos outside the premises of An-nur Mosque at Wuse 2 condemned the killing of Sheikh Kaseem Umar the Sokoto Islamic Scholar who was shot in the leg by Nigerian Police at Berger Junction on 09-01-2018 during Free Zakzakyptotest and died on 05-02-2018 at Private Hospital in Kano
Sheikh Adamu also called for the prosecution of FCT Commissioner of Police and Inspector General of Police over the attacked on series of Free Zakzaky protest which led the death of innocent citizens while conducting their constitutional Right peacefully
He also called on human right groups and international communities to call Nigerian government to order and obey the court ruling of 2-12-2016 delivered by Justice Gabriel Kolawale of Federal High Court Abuja which declared the detention of Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife MalamaZenatudden as unconstitutional and must be release within 45 days with compensation of 50 millions
Since January the followers of Sheikh Zakzaky have intensified Daily sit-out at Unity Fountain and protest in major street of Abuja city to voice their anger over the deteriorating health condition of their leader who needed foreign medical attention
Other 2 followers of Sheikh Zakzaky who were also shot death by FCT Policemen during series of Free Zakzaky protest were Adamu Salihu Malammadori and Aminu Ibrahim Gashua while dozens sustained various degrees of gun injuries and over 300 were arrested and arraigned before Area court at Wuse zone 6 later were released on bail.
