The Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky delivered lecture on 10th of Muharram at Husaniiiya Baqiyyatullah, Zaria.
During the lecture attended by several thousand of people after they finished Ashura procession, he explained that the aim of the enemies at Karbala was to obliterate Islam altogether. They thought that with killing of Imam Husain everything would come to end. Alas, the ungodly mission could not be achieved. What they intended to end continued to flourish and upto this time millions mourn and commemorate the incidence.
The leader of the Islamic Movement read from one of the books written on Ashura Tragedy i.e Maqtal of Imam Husain(AS). He read some selected portions from the book on how the tragedy of Karbala happened. He explained how the tragedy occurred on the 10th of Muharram 61 AH.
After the lecture, Matam was performed followed by Ziyara, the supplication of Tawassul and closing prayers.
