Seventeen followers of Sheikh Zakzaky were confirmed killed by the Nigerian military when they were attacked without provocation at point blank range as they embarked on the Annual Arbaeen mourning procession in Abuja, Monday the 29th of October, 2018.
At least 40 others were known to have been injured, some very seriously, in this show of shame and cowardice by the Nigerian Army. These figures may rise as data on the affected are still being counted.
Pictures showed unarmed members of the Islamic Movement comprising women, children and boys conducting the Arbaeen mourning procession peacefully in neat rows before the unjustifiable brutal attacks by the military.
