On Friday 1st July, 2016 (27th Ramadan 1437) people of conscience in Jos joined their brothers around the world to mark the International Quds day which was set by Imam Khomeini the author of Iranian 1979 revolution to show solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine.
The peaceful procession which kicked up at Yan Dankali street marched through the streets of Kwararrafa cinema, Yan Tifa, Bauchi road, Yan Taya and wrapped up at the Jos central mosque has witnessed a large turnout with people from various institutions of life. Most of the participants were carrying banners with pictures of Sheikh Zakzaky, Quds mosque and Imam Khomeini. Some banners carried some pictures of the oppressed Palestinians including women and children. Meanwhile, some are carrying placards inscribed ‘Free Zakzaky’, Free Palestine, Death to Israel, Death to America among others.
However, while marching through the streets of Jos,others are chanting songs of solidarity with the Palestinians and the leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, his eminence Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
Delivering his closing remarks, Sheikh Adamu Tsoho reiterates his stand on the need for people around the globe to join this peaceful protest devoid of religious bigotry. He said the issue of Palestine is not only for some people, its for all who identity with humanity.
He further call on the Nigerian government to immediately release Sheikh Zakzaky unconditionally. He said "what happened in Zaria during 2014 Quds day in Zaria and that of 12 December 2015 is akin to the cruelty Israeli are doing to Palestinians in Gaza. Sheikh Zakzaky is an epitome of resistance, resilience and the oppressed people of Palestine, at the same time" he concluded
