Professor Abdullahi Danladi is a lecturer in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was one of the speakers at the 19th annual seminar, 2016, organized by Youth Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, under the spiritual leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.
He spoke on first day of the seminar on, Friday, 2nd of September, 2016, on knowledge.
Professor Abdullahi Danladi started his speech by describing psych as the one and only unique characteristic that discernment between man
and animal. Psych is the only diversity between man and animal creature. Therefore, a creature blessed with rational thinking and farsightedness is who is struggling towards a reform for a better life here and the hereafter.
Linking psych with knowledge, the speaker said, "Knowledge works hand in hand with psych, and psych is attributed and blessed to man by his Lord.
He explained reform as a means or ways of changing humanity in morale, and system of living from worst or less better to a better means of living. Therefore, he acknowledged the goals and objectives of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and the need for all and sundry in the fold of the movement to be enlightened with these goals.
Professor Abdullahi Danladi lamented over how masses in Nigeria are yet to be reawaken and understand what Islam and reform simply mean.
He said, Muslim Ummah think reform and Islam simply mean observing five daily obligatory prayers. Certainly, Islam is the total submission to the will of Allah and this comprises the entire life of a servant of Allah, and the entire life of servant of Allah works in line with knowledge. Explained the speaker.
Also speaking on significance of knowledge and the role it plays towards reforming humanity, the speaker buttressed his point by citing words of the Lord about knowing Him(The Most High) first, prior to every other worship. He says, if you do not educationally know your Lord, how would you be able worship Him ? Adding that, this shows the significance of knowledge and the role it plays in changing the way of your life.
Professor Abdullahi said that, It is high time for brothers and sisters in the fold of this Movement to tight their belt and wake up in quest of knowledge. He advised the youth to search for Islamic and Western education for the significance of both.
He also advised them to be well-abreast in where to search knowledge most especially Islamic knowledge. If it becomes necessary to search
for knowledge at where you are not contented with the manner and system of running an existing institute, then, you must keep abreast
with where you came from and where you are heading to.
