Peaceful Free Sheikh Zakzaky Protest Staged in Kaduna

On,Friday 30 of September, 2016, thousands of brothers and sister from within Kaduna and its environs marched peaceful free Sheikh Zakzaky protest. The protest kicked off from Layin Kosai, around the premises of Salamat Friday Congregational prayer’s mosque, at about 1:00 p.m.

The protest marched through Junction Road through Ahmadu Bello Way and finally terminated at Leventis roundabout along Yakubu Gowon Way, the city heart of Kaduna.

The protesters marched raising posters and banners with inscriptions of  Zaria massacre which attracted the attention of many passers by and masses as the protest was smoothly and peacefully moving on. Christians were among those who raised posters and expressed their calls for unconstitutional release of Sheikh Zakzaky. In his closing remarks, the coordinator of the zone, Malam Aliyu Turmidhi reiterated the simple demand of members of Islamic Movement  which is ‘unconditional release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky’ which could give chance for medical specialists to attend to his deteriorating health condition, including  his wife, while  hundreds of faithful followers in detention as inmates in Kaduna central prison.

It could be recalled that, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky had been in illegal detention for over nine months without trial, despite heavy injury he sustained from gun shorts by Nigerian army during their all and out war on peaceful and defenceless members of the Movement.
