Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria while celebrating the day of 15th Sha’aban that doubles as the birthday of Imam Mahdi (af) and that of Islamic Movement’s leader, Sheikh Zazkaky have renewed their call to the President Muhammad Buhari-led Federal Government to release the detained leader.
The procession that took place in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja lasted for about two hours kicked up at the National Human Rights Commission junction and wrapped up at the Federal Secretariat.
Members of the movement that participated in their thousands described the continued detention of the ailing leader, Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife as unjust. According to statement made available to the press shortly after the procession and signed by Abdullahi Muhammad Musa of the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria described the movement’s leader as whose courageous independent posture, love for unity, mutual understanding and servitude to God earned him followers among the masses and victimization by successive Nigerian governments.
The leader who just clocked 68, according to the statement is marking 1,224 days under illegal detention alongside his wife, Malama Zeenatudeen Ibrahim.
