Today 5th December, 2016 marked the Birthday of Shaheed Mustapha Imam a son to Imam Ahmad a resident of Funtua. Mustapha was Extrajudicially killed by Nigerian Police Force on 12/10/2016 when members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria are commemorating the annual Ashura Procession in Funtua town of Katsina State.
On the day, I was down with Malaria and Typhoid when I received the news of the clampdown on the members of IMN including my beloved friend, brother as well as backsaw. It cuddles my sense of buffoonery, facetiousness and comicality whenever I conjure up his interaction, love, caring among others like a biological brother to me.
We first met in when I asked his doting sister out. A Sister he tagged as ‘UMMI’. Our kinship and interaction becomes tidy, apple-pie order. But, the ungodly Nigerian Government killed him in cold blood. Our heart couldn’t bear his loss, bereavement, but when we consider, I personally brood over, the mentality of killing him mercilessly, I thank Almighty Allah for choosing him to be among the Martyrs that cede their precious lives to revive the Religion of Islam in the 21st Century.
You couldn’t comprehend the attitude of someone, until you interact with him, in terms of these, I believe that Mustapha is irreplaceable among youths of today. Its daily duty to him around 3.00 O’Clock (in the night) of everyday, he wake-up, pray and read supplications. He always ponder on the main reason of creating him in this world. He lead the Subh prayers, morning supplications at home when his Dad is absent. His interaction to others is commendable, especially to with school peers.
Before he was killed, he is 300 Level student of prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Department of Mathematics. What a loss of a brainy! He contributed immensely to AFIMN in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He was the Editor in Chief of the forum. He is one of the excos that we would never forget.
The Academic Forum of The Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the guardian of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, ABU, Zaria Chapter condole with his family and Awards him with ‘AWARD OF HONOUR’ during his Birthday celebration at school of Fudiyyah, Funtua. The Award was given to his Father Malam Ahmad Akil Imam.
