Thousands of people attended the martyrdom commemoration of Imam Hasan bn Ali Almujtabah (alaihis salam) at Husainiyyah Baqiyytullah Zaria on Satruday the 7th of Muharram 1436(29/11/14).
The Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Zakzaky spoke on the sublime status of Imam Hasan (AS) citing different sources.
He described Imam Hasan(AS) as fountain of compassion, patience and endurance, his personality and openhandedness for his help of the needy and the poor.
Born in the third year after Hijrah which was the year Uhud battle was fought, Sheikh Zakzkay expressed that his name ‘Hasan’ was revealed to the prophet by Allah. He added that Imam Hasan(AS) lived close to his grandfather- the prophet (SAWA), for 8 blessed years.
In another part of his speech Sheikh Zakzaky spoke on Imam’s teachings toward piety, submitting to Allah and doing without in this world (Zuhd)- the lessons the Imam had been emphasizing even on his death bed .
On the issue of martyrdom of the holy Imam Sheikh Zakzay explained that it was through poisonous food served to him by Mu’awiyyah bnAbu Sufyan through the Imam’s wife for worldly gain. He added that Imam Hasan (alaihis salam) lived 41 days after he ate the poison. He died on 7th of Safar, according to authentic reports, the Sheikh said.
After Sunset prayers Sheikh zakzaky spoke on the burial of Imam Hasan(AS) after his martyrdom. In his will the holy Imam ordered his brother Imam Husain(alaihis salam) to bury him close to his grandfather if possible. Marwan bn Hakam connived with A’isha to stop the action which she did.
To avoid bloodshed Imam Husan(AS) changed his intention and buried his brother at Baqi cemetery- a place of visit by pilgrims for centuaries, though, in 1954 Saudi kingdom destroyed the decorated dome on the tomb of Imam Hasan(alaihis salam) for thier enemity towards Ahlubayt(AS).
