Martrys Days marked in Zaria/pictures

The Islamic Movement its in Nigeria marked its annual Martrys Day on Saturday the 28th of Rajab 1436 (16/5/15) at Polo ground adjacent to Husainiyyah Baqiyyatullah, Zaria. Hundreds of thounsands attended the programme from far and near.

The venue was well decorated. People used umbrella with shuhada logo to defy scotching sun. Families of the martrys were seated under well decorated canopies as Shu’ara group(poets) recited poetry on the significance and merits of martrydom.

Other highlights of the event include parades by The Guards and martrys’ children carrying the pictures of the martrys. The Leader of the Islamic Movement Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky arrived at the venue by 10:45AM. Upon his arrival he listened to the address of the Chairman of the Shuhada Foundation Sheikh Abdulhameed Bello. Sheikh Bello described some of the activities of the foundation which include catering for the needs of the families of the martrys in education, training, empowerment as well as visiting of their graves and their families. He further said the number of matrys this year reaches two hundred and  nine (209) while the families they left behind are 345.

After the speech by the Chairman, Sheikh Zakzaky delivered his extensive lecture on the merit of martrydom, good tidings to the families as well as message to killers. He explained that a martyr does not commit any offense except that he said his Lord is Allah(SW). He also described Imam Kazim(alaihis salam) as a symbol of all hardships and courage as he was martryed for no offense he committed except his devotion to Islam. He also spoke on various plot hatched by Jonathan Government in order to assasinate him including the recent attack at the area he resides with the aim of killing him. All other previous failed attempts were expalined to the audience by the Sheikh.

The Leader of the Islamic Movement presented trophies and gift items to those who excelled on the activities of the Foundation in the year.
