Many Injured, Detained as Police Attacks #Free Zakzaky Protest in Abuja

By Mahdi Garba
Many members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria have been detained, others sustaining various degrees of injury while calling on the Buhari-led Federal Government to release their leader for medical attention.

The Protests were revived Saturday evening, after family sources confided the clergy’s deteriorating health status.

"He is suffering from stroke. His health condition is growing from bad to worse. Anything can happen to him. He can loose his life is adequate care is not properly given", the source lamented.

Citizen journalist, Ammar Muhammad Rajab confirmed to me that his left hand has been broken by the Police with bayonet after severe beating.

Speaking over the phone he said, " The Police made all efforts to stop the protest from the Eagle Square but we resisted. When they realized that their teargas canisters couldn’t stop us, they started arresting us."

He said about 8 of them were arrested but only him regained freedom while the 7 others have been whisked away by the Police.
