On Sunday the 28/1/143n (18/1/2015) Victims of Sokoto crises which occurred in 2007 were warmly welcomed in Kaduna for a launching to support them as sensitized by the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Zakzaky.
The gathering which comprises of representatives under Kaduna zone such as Abuja, Suleja, Minna, Kwantagora, Lagos, Benin and others were present.
He said, this visit is necessary considering the statement of the leader of the Islamic movement his eminence sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky that other zones of the movement shall execute a launching to support them.
Speaking on the hard condition of the victims, in which Governor Alu Wamakko was the obvious culprit, Malam Sidi Munir said they are highly in need of assistance. He re-iterated that the visit becomes necessary to sensitize brothers towards contributing fund.
He said the approved bank account provided is walking at snail’s crow compared to how the account was last year, due to negligence. Malam Munir added that the balance in the account is not enough to carry out the works already outlined for the victims as some of them spent seven years in prison; the Markaz (center) and Fudiyya schools were
destroyed in addition to the destructions of over 130 houses.
Mallam Munir described part of sufferings which includes lack of houses as most of them live in rented apartments while some were evacuated for lack of payment of the rent.
Among the victims, Mallam Munir said, are those who live in dilapidated houses.
At the ended, he commended the effort been made by the launching committee and also called on the committee to put more effort on reminding brothers towards the contribution at this time of need.
He also expressed gratitude on behalf of Sokoto victims to Muslims of Kaduna Chapter of the Islamic Movement for the reception.
In his remarks, the chief launching and Amir of the zone Malam Mukhtar Sahabi cleared the misconstrued statement circulating that some members are against the launching adding that it would be done on watchful eyes of everyone as this will increase the enthusiasm of other people across the other zones towards contributing. He also called on all those who pledged amount of money to endeavour to fulfill their promises before the grand launching to hold at Zaria in due cause.
Among representatives from other chapters within the zone include Malam Auwal Rigasa from Kaduna who presented a cash teller of 1, 041, 200. Malam Umar Abdullahi Sakafa from Suleja who presented a cash teller of 62, 800. Malam Sirajo Shehu Almizan who presented a cash teller of 1, 041, 200. Other chapters such as Minna, Kontagora, Lagos, Benin and others are yet to present their donation.
