The Kaduna state governor, Alhaji Ramalan Yero sent a delegation to condole Sheikh Zakzaky over the killings of 33 members of the Movement, three of which were the Sheikh’s sons.
The delegation which included Government officials and some traditional rulers, was led by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Hamza Ishaq Danmahawayi, who expressed condolence on behalf of the governor.
Alhaji Hamzah said the governor had wanted to be present, but for his tight schedule could not. He described the incident as a sad and unfortunate event, and prayed for Allah’s mercy on those who lost their lives.
In his response, Sheikh Zakzaky expressed happiness with visit, saying that he had direct communication with the Governor over the issue and that the Governor had personally condoled him.
Sheikh Zakzaky further lamented over the lack of focus in Nigeria’s leadership, adding the centre cannot hold and no one seems to be in control of affairs in the country.
He narrated how his children were arrested and later killed, with Mahmud being the first to be shot in the abdomen at close range and died at home as all roads to hospital were blocked.
He further said, Ahmad and Hameed were killed by the soldiers after being arrested, adding that they were in good condition when arrested.
Sheikh Zakzaky told the delegation that, 33 people were killed including a 4 –year-old boy and a 9- year-old girl. He thanked the delegation for the condolence visit.
