Int’l Women’s Day Marked in Kano, to Commemorate Sayyidah Fatimah Al-Zahra (AS)’s Birthday

Sisters of the Islamic Movement in Kano organized a rally in honor of Sayyidah Zahra (SA) the daughter of our Noble Prophet (SWA), whose birthday is being marked on 20th Jumadal Akhir, Islamic calendar. 

The day is set aside by Imam Ruhullah Khomeni (QS) as the International Women’s Day.

The rally in Kano came few days after the grand ceremony held in Zaria by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under Sheikh Zakzaky (H).

The rally attended by hundreds of thousands of people representing all segments of the society and cultures carrying flags, banners and reciting songs of praise, passed through major streets in the old Kano city such as Kofar Mata, Yolawa, Kurmi Market, Koki, kofar Mazugal and terminated at Fagge Friday Mosque.

As the rally passed by, gifts were handed out to people, as a sign of love and affection as exemplified by Sayyidah Zahra (SA) during her lifetime.

Malama Maimuna Abdullahi, special guest speaker who spoke on the virtues and exemplary character of Sayyida Zahra (SA), worthy of emulation. She called on people to study the life of Sayyidah Zahra (SA), the Leading Lady and the most illustrious model, in order to re-examine the great status attributed to women by Islam.

Commemoration of Sayyida Zahra (SA)’s birthday within Kano an environs started Jumadal Ula, 1435 with mauluds held in different zones within and outside Kano city with the grand finale to be held on Saturday 3rd May 2014.

A car Mazda 323 has been set aside for any lady (not within the fold of the Islamic Movement) that wins the Fatimatu Al- Zahra (SA) Essay Competition, and also presented altleast 20 of her hadith.
