Thousands of supporters of leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky staged fresh protests and rallies across the country on Friday 17/1/2020,

calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the leader and his wife who are in illegal detention for over 4 years now, since Nigerian Army masscre in Zaria in 2015.

Protesters took to the streets in several cities, including Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Talata Mafara, Yola, Birnin Kebbi among others in millions protesting against the recent mischievious stance intending to be taken by the Buhari regime, using the power of Court to accomplish its devilish task of killing the leader and his wife, having failed in the deadly attack of December 2015 in his residence.

The protesters denounced the imprisonment of Zakzaky and a number of his supporters as a violation of the Nigerian constitution.

The Movement have just carried out a press conference in the nation's capital, Abuja, where it reject the outright statement made by the Kaduna State Government in which through the state Commissioner of justice recently insinuated that the fate of the leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is in the hands of the Kaduna State High Court; not the state government.

The Movement however consider it mischievous and spiteful. The update released by the commissioner is no more than the mere barking of a toothless dog serving the interest of the perpetrators of the 2015 Zaria Massacre.

In another press statement shared by protesters in various cities today expressed that, "It is pertinent for the general public to be informed that the Kaduna State Government does not possess powers to order the military to perpetrate the unjust Massacre. The involvement of military officers in the attacks exposed the Federal government’s criminal complicity in the heinous genocide that led to the extrajudicial murder of over a thousand persons, and the subsequent arrest and detention of our leader".

It can be recalled that, Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife were arrested on December 14th December 2015, during a Nigerian military attack in Zaria city. After killing more than 1000 innocent followers and destroyed all the properties of the leader and all that belonged to the Movement.

After series of streets protests, milder approach of diplomacy, national and international pressure, the Nigerian court allowed Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife to be flown to India for treatment in August 2019, but due to dissatisfaction with the treatment process, security restrictions, and the lack of trustworthy doctors, Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife left India for Nigeria after spending two days in that country.

A High Court ordered the Department of State Services on December 5 to transfer the cleric and his wife, Zinat, to the Correctional Center in Kaduna state, northwest of the country. The unsanitary conditions in Kaduna prison have only heightened concerns about the state of health of Sheikh Zakzaky
