He made the statement recently at a book launch, The Peace Broker, written by Abdul Mumin Giwa, at Gamji Gate Hall, Kaduna. Reverend Hayap said, he had been interacting with Sheikh Zakzaky and found him humble, pious and a true Man of God.
According to him, Sheikh Zakzaky had examplified in his character, vision and leadership, how to achieve true unity and peaceful co-existence amnong people of different religion. “Even when others see him differently with different perception, I see him as an upright person with the love of humanity and a true advocate of peace”.
 He said, the Christians constantly listen to Sheikh Zakzaky’s Tafsir and sermons, and are immensely benefitting from the messages in it. Zakzaky’s messages, he said, are straight forward, objective, laced with moral instructions that benefit both Muslims and Christians.
Reverend Hayap also used the occasion dismiss unfounded rumours that the Kaduna State government has given Sheikh Zakzaky the office of Adviser on Peace, saying that, the story is unfounded and lacks basis and coherence. “The government has no befitting job to give this great man, a man of his status rightly guided followers”, he stressed.
He therefore called on faithfuls to tolerate each other and embibe true religious leadership for lasting peace. “We must all turn to the truth. Our religious leaders should be sincere, and teach their followers the real precept of the religion, as no religion advocates for violence”. |
