The ongoing International Conference holding in Iran on Ghadir Khumm, features discussion on different aspects of the Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) message to all Muslims.

The October 2012 conference is being attended by many scholars and Shia thinkers from 35 countries such as Pakistan, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa, Sudan, Azerbaijan, and Spain converged to the conference being held in Imam Sadeq (PBUH) University, Tehran.The Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzay is one of the participants.

Ghadir-e Khumm conference was programmed to focus on the theme of “Global Expansion of Ghadir Event, and the Ongoing Role of Imamate in Islamic Awakening"

According to the sermon, which was attended by tens of thousands of Muslims performing Hajj, the Prophet of Islam appointed Imam Ali (PBUH) as his successor and the leader of the Muslim community.

The occasion is celebrated as Eid al-Ghadir Khumm during which Muslims renew their allegiance with Prophet Mohammad, Imam Ali as the first Imam of the Shia Muslims and his progeny.
