In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad and his noble family. Today, March 18, 2021 (Sha’aban 4th, 1442) we celebrate the Birthday of Abul Fadl Abbas Ibn Abi Talib (AS). The Abul Fadl Foundation wishes to congratulate Sahibul Asr (AJTF), our leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) and the entire Muslim Ummah on this auspicious day.

Abul Fadl Abbas was the son of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib and Fatima Binte Hizam, commonly known as Ummul Baneen. Abbas is revered for his loyalty to his half-brother and third Imam of the Ahlul-Bayt, Husain Ibn Ali (AS), his respect for the Ahlul-Bayt, and his role in the battle of Karbala.
During his lifetime, Abul Fadl Abbas was married to Lubaba Binte Obaidullah Ibn Abbas Ibn Abdul Muttalib. He had three sons, and their names are Fadal Ibn Abbas, Qasim Ibn Abbas and Obaidullah Ibn Abbas. Two of them were martyred during the battle of Karbala.
On the 10th of Muharram, Imam Husain (AS) ordered Abbas to fetch water from the Euphrates River and bring it to the vulnerable children who were very thirsty. Some of the soldiers loyal to Yazid wanted to stop him, thereby blocking his way and even trying to kill him but they were all neutralized, thanks to Abbas’s mastery of the sword. One of the enemies injured Abbas while hiding in the trees.
Abbas lost both arms as he was eager to deliver the water, which eventually led to his martyrdom. Imam Husain (AS) was really heart broken by the martyrdom of Abbas in Karbala.
Abul Fadl Abbas was a role model who was worth being emulated. The youths nowadays should endeavor to revisit and learn from the life of this hero, the defender of Islam. In Abul Fadl’s life, there lies a lesson that teaches sacrifice, resilience and steadfastness.
Abul Fadl Abbas was totally loyal to his master, Imam Hussain. It is high time people started emulating the life of Sayyid Abul Fadl Abbas, a life that was marked by his subservience, sacrifice and loyalty to his imam.
We would like to use this opportunity to call on the people to know more about his life in order to emulate his audacious and extraordinary life.
May we live like Hussain and die like Abbas.
Happy Birthday Ya Abbasul Karrar
