Sheikh Zakzaky Supporters Staged Peaceful Procession in Abuja shortly after Court Session Today PDF Print E-mail

As soon as the lingering trial of leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has been postponed to tomorrow Thursday 19th of Nov. as earlier arranged in the last hearing, hundreds of his supporters took the streets of abuja, the nation capital around zone 3, Wuse, Abuja, carrying banners and posters reiterating their demand which is the freedom of their leader Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife.

However, some reports say security forces attacked the peaceful protesters without any provocation.

It is today Wednesday the 18th of Nov. the Kaduna state High Court resumed the hearing of the appealed case before it.  The court ealier fixed 18th and 19th of November 2020 to hear from witnesses.

At the resumption of the hearing, former Army spokesman, Col Usman Kuka Sheka, one of the Government's key witnesses,  appeared before the court in favour of the Kaduna Kaduna state government. After hearing from two wintessess, the Judged suspended the hearing to the next day ie Thurday the 19th of Nov 2020.

It could be recalled that a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled in favour of Sheikh Zakzaky in December 2016 and ordered for his released together with his wife Zeenah.  Howerver, despite the COurt order Sheikh Zakzaky and wife Zeenat are still imprisoned for nearly five years.

It could be recalled that Nigerian Army attacked brothers and sisters faithful followers of the Sheikh in 2015 killing hundreds and damaging structures worth millions of Naira. The Sheikh and his wife have been suffering from multiple of health problems due to Army gun shot on the most sensitive parts of their bodies.
