Martyr Shaikh Qasim Umar Sakwato; a symbol of sacrifice and resistance against oppression
It is believed that sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something one considers to have more value than himself. We can boldly say that it involves giving up everything you cherished for the sake of something greater - for the sake of Allah the Master of all Who created Paradise for those who sacrifice for His sake in this world.

For this dream of Shaikh Qasim to come true, he worked hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.

When you sacrifice your life for the sake of Allah, you did not loose; in Islam, Martyrdom is a honour.

"But do not think of those that have been slain in God’s cause a dead. Nay, they are alive! With their Sustainer have they their sustenance..." (Q3:169)

"They rejoice in the glad tiding of God’s blessings and bounty, and (in the promise) that God will not fail to requite the believers,..." (Q3:171).

We can recall that Shaikh Zakzaky was attacked by the Nigerian Army between 12th and 14th of December, 2015 in which over one thousand of his followers were massacred including three of his sons.

It is known to the world that the health of Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife has continued to deteriorate day by day due to the multiple gun shots in their body without proper medication.

At his age (65), Shaikh Zakzaky together with his wife were shot severally, and brutally tortured by the Army before handing them over to the Department of State Services (DSS).

Since then ,Shaikh Zakzaky was kept under illegal detention by the Nigerian tyrants despite the ruling of the Federal High Court that he should be freed and compensated.

Shaikh Qasim Umar was among the devoted Muslims that embark on the protests that has been going on for more than two years in various places across the country.

Unfortunately, the police that are suppose to protect people from harm shot Shaikh Qasim Umar and eventually resulted into his martyrdom after been hospitalized for some weeks.

The Killing of Shaikh Qasim Umar,a pious and God fearing follower of Shaikh Zakzaky has further exposed the agenda of the devilish politicians ruling Nigeria.

This will only increase the gravity of the Free Zakzaky protest. Standing againts a tyrant is an obligation.

We are deeply concerned about the health of our incarcerated leader and we believe that it is necessary on the Nigerian State and those holding him to release him unconditionally to enable him attend to his heath properly; they will be held responsible if any ugly thing happen to Shaikh Zakzaky and his wife.

The Nigerian people and the international community should know that Shaikh Zakzaky has not been accused of committing any crime, detaining him illegally is a clear violation of his Fundamental Human Rights.

We will not forgive the killing of Shaikh Qasim Umar and the rest of our brothers and sisters.

Their killers must be brought to book. We demand Justice.
