Imam Khomeini’s thought raised status of women, says Prof. Hadiza Nuhu/Pics

Professor Hadiza Nuhu, was a speaker at the Imam Khomeini’s Week organized by the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria held in Zaria, where she explained in detail on how many communities had imposed a lot of cruelty and injustice on women in many ways.

According to her, in such communities women were barred from attending schools and participating in religious activities.

Professor Hadiza Nuhu enumerated points on how to encourage women to become active and useful members of the society.

She explained the status of women from Imam Khomeini’s view, as it relates to political, social and cultural perspectives.

She stressed Imam Khomeini had insisted on non-discrimination between men and women point out that there should be no any gender discrimination between men and women, and used the opportunity to dismiss the negative thinking of the western world with regards to hijab.

She also said, Islam has given all the freedom and opportunities as human beings, as against the western concept of nudity as freedom, describing it as humiliation and violation of women dignity. “One of the greatest things Imam did was to teach and encourage people in general to live their lives according to the teachings of Rasulallah. It is also mandatory for any woman to see Nana Khadijah (a.s) and Sayyisdah Zahra (s.a) as  role models”.

She concluded by saying, Iran has changed the world today the world the real concept and meaning of freedom and justice and they can be applied in the society.

The university don appreciated the effort of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria led by Shaikh Zakzaky (H) in changing the thinking of millions of Nigerians towards knowing the rights and importance of Women in the society.
