FREE ZAKZAKY PROTEST ROCKS ABUJA

With the continued detention of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, his followers under the aegis of Academic Forum have staged a peaceful Free Zakzaky protest demanding his immediate and unconditional release as ordered by the Federal High Court Abuja on 2-December-2016

The peaceful protest took place from Area 1 round about 11:30 am today 13-June-2017, the participants men, women and youth carrying placards with the inscriptions of Free Zakzaky and the posters of the Islamic Scholar chanting Free Zakzaky slogans
In his closing remarks the leader of the protest Engr. Abdullahi Musa said they will not stop calling for the immediate and unconditional release of their leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky,his wife and hundreds of his followers who are in detention unlawfully for a year and half, adding that the Federal Government should allow him access to well-equipped medical facilities in any place of his choice
It could be recalled on 14-December-2015 Nigerian Army arrested Sheikh Zakzaky after killing over 1000 of his followers in Zaria when Army accused them blocking road to Chief of Army Staff General Tukur Burutai the allegation was refuted by the Islamic Movement saying it was a deliberate planned to kill their leader Sheik Zakzaky
On 2 –December-2019 Justice Gabriel Kolawale of Federal High Court Abuja has declared that the continued detentionthe Islamic scholar, his wife is unconstitutional and ordered his immediate release with the award of N 50,000,000 for them for unlawful detention but the Government refused to comply the with the judgement
