A fresh peaceful protest demanding the immediate release of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), his wife Malama Zeenatudden Ibraheem and other detained brothers and Sisters of the Movement by Nigeria Government was held in Bauchi on 16 May, 2016.
The Protest kicked off at Wunti Gate and ended at Bauchi Centeral Market where hundreds of mourners carried and wearing Zakzaky-embossed
posters and t-shirts demanded the immediate release of their spiritual leader without condition.
The protesters lamented that despite the fact that Zazkaky, wife and hundreds of his followers are kept incommunicado for more than five months, there is no sign that he would be released soon. But they vowed to keep demonstrating until they secure the release of their leader.
As usual, the protest ended peacefully as thousands of spectators watched and sympathised with the protesters over the Zaria massacre which claimed more than a thousand lives of innocent Shias.
