As the Day of Ashura approaches, mass flow of mourners to Majalis is daily increasing across cities in Nigeria. On daily basis, men, women, children and the aged members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria are seen emerging from various localities in groups carrying Ashura flags and reciting elegies, going and coming back from Muharram Majalis.
It is the same pattern in every major city, town and village. The mass trek also serves as enlightenment in sending the Ashura message to the public. As the trek goes by people ask questions, and the answers given them made some also join. Other people also attend the Majalis out of curiosity, but came out more enlightened.
