Alert: Continued detention of ailing Sheikh Zakzaky & Malama Zeenah, in Kaduna State Prison amidst fear of COVID-19 pandemic is condemnable. Today Tuesday the 31st of March 2020 there is report that one inmate is reported died this morning after displaying symptoms of Corona virus.
Another reports says that another female inmate is said to be critically ill This led to a riot by prisoners protesting why the authorities expose them to danger. According to a source heavy gunshots could be heard from a distance to the prison. Everyone is scared because the prisoner who died may have infected many other inmates. We are therefore demanding the release of the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and other prisoners for the safety of their lives.
Though things began to normalise in the prison, yet inmates are not comfortable because of congestion and everyday more prisoners are sent to the prison on daily basis despite congestion.
