Sheikh Dawud Waziri Anozie Onyeagocha, the Chief Imam of Owerri in Imo state passed away on Monday night the 11th of November 2019 after a brief illness in Owerri.
His funeral took place on Tuesday the 12th of November 2019 at his house at Ogugba street, Ama-Hausa in Owerri.
Sheikh Dawud is one of the Scholars who supported and upheld the idea unity of the Muslim Ummah. During his life almost every year he used to attending Unity Week Programmes in Zaria. He would stay with Sheikh Zakzaky from the first day of unity week lectures to the closing day. His meeting with Sheikh Zakzaky about 12 years ago had positive impact on his Da’awah in his community.
His death is great loss to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
