Chavez’s death a big loss -Sheikh Zakzaky

The Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky described the death of Venezuelan President Hogo Chavez  as a big loss not only to the people of Venezuela but to all humanity especially the oppressed.

He further hoped that his loss shall not be the end of the  struggle which he started during his life time.

Sheikh zakzaky further expressed his condolence over the death of the great hero to his family and the people of Venezuela who are the most affected by the loss. The Leadership qualities of Chavez who served his people with all his strength and who put their interests first as against serving the interests of foreing powers should be emulated by world leaders, the Sheikh stressed.

A great leader who supported the Palestinians. The Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank gathered in grief on Thursday over the death of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, an unwavering supporter of their cause who fiercely opposed Israel.

The 58-year-old Venezuelan president, died on Tuesday the 5th of March 2013 after a nearly two-year struggle with cancer, before he death he was massively popular with the Palestinians for his outspoken support for their plight.

An American writer says he believes the United States murdered Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez by infecting him with cancer causing elements just as Israelis had poisoned Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to death. Press tv reports.

His love for Palestinians became more clear in January 2009 when he described Israel as a terror state during its 22-day assault on Gaza which killed over 1,400 Palestinians.

He severed all diplomatic ties with Israel that month over its "cruel persecution of the Palestinian people."

Known for his staunch, vocal support for a Palestinian state, Chavez never made any attempt to disguise his contempt for Israel which he described as "genocidal" and a "killer state.".

Al-akhar website reports that a enior Palestinian official Nabil Shaath hailed Chavez as someone who "endlessly worked… for all oppressed peoples, including Palestine."

"Palestine says goodbye to a loyal friend who passionately defended our right to freedom and self-determination," he said.
