Ashura 1442: Mourning gatherings to commemorate Ashura tragedy begin in Nigeria

Mourning gatherings 1442 in Commemoration of Karbala tragedy kicked up in places across Nigeria. In Kaduna, Sokoto, Funtua and several other areas the gathering started on Thursday the 1st of Muharram 1442 (20/8/2020). While in Kano, the mourning started on Wednesday the 30th of Dhul Hijjah 1441 (19.8.2020).

Brothers and sisters of the Islamic movement in Kano under the leadership of Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky had on Wednesday 30th Zul-Hijjah 1441 gathered and offered prayers on the last day of the year 30/12/1441 which corresponds with 19th of Aug 2020 and also to offer prayers on the coming New Year 1442 which will fall on Thursday the 20th of Aug 2020.
The program started with an opening prayer from Mal Ibrahim Tsoho, recitation of the holy Qur’an by Muhammad Radda and recitation of ziyarat of Imam Husain (AS) by Fatima Ibrahim.
Other activities include special prayers for both End of Year and the New Year. Opening lecture of the event of Ashura was also delivered.
In his opening remark, Mal Saadu Danshine expressed gratitude to Allah for living to see the end of the year and the New year coming. He also prayed for the unconditional freeing of Shaikh Zakzaky (H) and his wife Malama Zeenatuddeen.
