The fifth Ashura Majalis session at Markazul Islamiy Imam Aliy Al-Ridha, Kofar waika, Kano zone of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria under the leadership of Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky on Monday 5th Muharram, 1442 (24/8/2020) had Mal Muhammad Mu’awuya Kiyawa as the guest speaker who spoke on “A historical review of what happened with the movement of Imam Husain (AS) from Makka towards Kufa” with Mal Aliyu AbdulRahman Rimin Gado as the chairman.
Mal Muhammad in his introduction, Mallam Muhammad explained that Imam Husain (AS) and his followers had left Madina to Makka to perform Hajj, but he began to receive letters of plea to Imam Husain from the people of Kufa to address various problems they had. The letters of plea raised to more than a thousand in which he consulted with his followers on the various issues and at the end Imam Husain (AS) decided to go to Kufa, leaving Makka on 8th Zulhijjah (a day to Arafat day).
Why should Imam Husain left Makka a day to Arafat which is significant and a lot will learn from Imam Husain (AS) asked Mal Muhammad? This indeed shows the need to leave Makka was important and vital. Imam Husain in the journey had stopped at different places along the route with the number of people claiming to be his followers. As letters from Kufa keft increasing, the Imam then sent Muslim bin Akil to go to Kufa and find what’s the real situation at Kufa. The later event was the betrayal from those who had sent appeal to Imam Husain to come to Kufa to address various issue. The next session will address “Muslim the messenger of Imam Husain (AS)”.
The latma (mourning) session was presided by Ittihadul Shu’arah and a dramatized event of Ashura was conducted. Maghreeb and Isha prayers were held with Ziyarat and dua.
