 The Annual Shuhada Day in Memory of Movement’s matrys was marked successfully in Zaria city with various activities which include competitions and lectures  on Saturday the  27th of June 2008. It's aim is to remember members who attained exalted position of Matrydom in the cause of the struggle.  Shuhada Foundation caters for families and dependents of Martyrs. There are now 163 children under its care.The closing speech was given by the Leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky to thousands of people from across the country.

In his opening remark The leader condoles the Ummah on the martyrdom of Imam Musa Al-Kadheem (AS), whose martyrdom coincided with annual Shuhada day. Imam Khadeem(AS) suffered aggression in the Hands of rulers of his time. He described the 12 holy Imams as guide to all Muslims whose following guarantees felicity here and here after.

He added that Imam Kadheem (AS) suffered so much in this world for the reward in the next world. Sacrifice is the key to success. The life of sacrifice as taught by Aímmah (AS) is to serve as a lesson for all in order to attain the everlasting peace and joy on the day of reckoning.

On the current celebration Sheikh added that Yawm Shuhada (Martyrs  Day ), which is being celebrated is the 18^th since it was introduced 18 years ago and its aim is to remember those killed in the cause of struggle in this part of the world.

He added that the life as taught by the Aímmah (AS) is not an easy one. A similar of what befell them must happen to those who want to emulate their path. It is a sunnah of God on the prophets as it is described in the holy Quran that every nation had tried to kill prophet sent to her.

Force was used to crush the Movement.

While revisiting  the history of martyrdom in the struggle, Sheikh explained that 18 years ago the enemies had taken steps to frustrate the Daáwah in an attempt to stop it. They started by beating members to the extent that one person was beaten to death.  In 1992 Abubakar Modomawa was beaten to death in Katsina. Then  the thought to establish a foundation to care for the families of Martyrs  came and Shuhada Foundation was established.

From then on series of persecution and killings were meted out on members. General Abacha,who was nicknamed ‘tazarce’ by his supporters because of his willingness to metamorphose himself from army to civilian president committed all sort of atrocities on members. He started by arresting the Movement’s leadership as he fully knew that protest would follow and he would use that to kill the protesting people thereby crushing the Movement all together. He killed 60 people, but that did not stop people from coming out en masse to protest. They even opened fire with life bullets on  members in a mosque as they were conducting their normal Tá alim lesson which resulted in killing one person. Not only that during a peaceful procession in Zaria, a well armed men of police opened fire on members thereby by killing 12. sheikh added

That was the method employed by Abacha on the supporters of Abiola, a politician who won presidential election in Nigeria but the election was cancel by the then regime, and crushed them.

Abacha arrested generals, politicians and traditional rulers. He arrested Dasuki, a former Sultan, General Obasanjo the former President, General Yaradua and Abiola.

Feeling that he dealt with those Generals and politicians, Abacha decided to crush the struggle in the path of Allah. This means attacking God. Abacha attacked without slightest provocation. Sheikh elaborated.

They resorted to Causing Sunni-Shia clash.

However, they realized that they can not crush the Da’awah, despite all the efforts and atrocities they committed. They even employed the method of causing confusion, dissention and disunity among Muslims. And now they don’t want use coercion  or force directly because they will be exposed. All they want is to create a sunni-shia clash and with that they can kill both sides in order to reduce the number of Muslims.

…..The same tactic is used by arrogant powers.

 It is the same tactics the world arrogant powers used. They created a pretext by causing September 11 attack on the twin tower to see Muslims as enemies. It is now crystal clear that the attack on the twin tower was carried out by the enemies of Islam. Planting of bombs in Muslim populated areas, like what they recently did in Ahmabad, India and in Gaza strip and to shift blame on particular group of Muslims just to cause confusion and enmity among them is one of the many tactics use by the enemies. Their aim is to present Islam as a religion of hat rage. It is a global plot which is not only confined to one area. The Leader explained.

Hizbullah gave them a heavy blow.

About two years ago, the enemies of Islam had encounter with Hizbullah, where they suffered a humiliating defeat to the extent that they don’t want fighting anymore and instead they resorted to creating conflicts in Lebanon. All they want now is to bring about confusion among Lebanese, all in vain.

The same method they applied in Sokoto where they killed one Umar Danmaishiyya and shifted the blame on members of the Islamic Movement. Last week Monday they attempted to do it in Katsina, where they planned to kill one famous scholar and shift the blame on members. However, they were exposed. Five people were assigned to do the job, 3 were already in his house as students while two were to meet them there on the day. Let people know that when ever someone is killed it is by the so called people in authority and enemies of Islam and Muslims to achieve their devilish goal.

We always wish good to People.

In our case we always wish peace to people and Islam is not about killing others.  Sheikh called on evil plotters to desist from such act as it will not bring good thing to them. He advised the persecutors and those being employed to rethink, because when they  succeeded in their devilish plan, which they can never achieve, they will not spear them and in the end they will all be in shame.

He called on those cleric employed by the enemies of Islam to cause dissention among Muslims to desist. Let them be warned that what happened to their mentors of shame and lost, will also happen to them.

Sheikh added the Da’awah comes to stay as  all members cannot be killed though some of them may be killed. Every soul must taste death. To die in the path of Islam to establish the deen is a special honour and it is the highest form of worship. Those killed on way of Allah are still alive, even  those who were killed in this struggle are here with us now. Sheikh expressed.

Those killed in the way of Allah are transplanted from this life to the next, they are not dead. Therefore no body can threaten us with death. And a day will come when we will take a revenge of all the persecution meted on us. The leader noted

At end the of lecture gift, trophies and certificates were presented to the winners in various competition organized by the Shuhada Foundation across the country.
