ASHURA IN KANO MARKED
It is exactly 1369 years ago in the desert plain of Karbala when a force of about 30,000 fighters armed with various types of weapons massacred 71 persons consisting of Imam Husain (AS), Ahlul Bait (AS) and his Sahabas. However, inspite of this historical catastrophe the followers of Imam Husain (AS) and rational human beings all over the world rekindle the victory achieved at Karbala against those who had wished to extinguish the light brought by Rasool (SA). Death in the hands of forceful tyrants has never being, shall never be the yardstick for victory.
Members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria in Kano and all those that oppose tyranny came out in mass to join others in the world to mark the Ashura rally today Wednesday 11th Muharram 1430 (7-1-2009) just a day after marking similar in the ancient city of Zaria in which the leader of the Movement Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) made a thought provoking speech marking the end of the march.
The rally under the leadership of Mal Sunusi AbdulKadir Koki followed major streets of Kano city with participants carrying placards and voicing slogans to vividly express the purpose of the day’s rally. Leaflets signed on behalf of the movement in Kano were also distributed to further state the objective of the rally. This year’s Ashura rally was also merged with the rally denouncing the atrocities perpetuated by the illegal entity Israel on defenseless civilians of Gaza who for more than 60 have been oppressed by the illegal state of Israel, Public radio, television had already vividly shown the mass genocide for the last 12days running with high civilian death tool rate and high injury figures.
At the end of the rally the representative of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) in Kano Mal Muhammad Turi made an encouraging speech on the tyranny of Ashura, lessons from it, the atrocities of the genocide perpetuated by the illegal entity Israel on defenseless citizens in Gaza from air land and the sea. Just like Imam Hussain (AS) proclaimed we shall never succumb to tyranny, we to are proclaiming aloud. He also went out to point to the fact that killing a servant of Allah (T) by oppressors those not translate to victory, today Karbala is a site visited by millions to express their allegiance to him, which is indeed a sign of victory for the perpetuated had wanted to totally obliterate the light brought by the Rasool (AS) and those who were to deputize the religion of Allah (T) in his absence, However Yazid bin Muaawuya and his cohorts are forgotten in the dustbin of history.
Mal Muhammad Turi made closing remarks by assuring Insha Allah one day our children will know of an entity known as Israel ONLY in History books with the inscription Israel removed from our maps, just like they did 60 year ago
